Here Comes Trouble

Hey Hey I'm back again! Today I have a project for our Free File Free-for All challenge. Yep, this means I'm using one of our awesome FREE cut files!

I don't know about you, but I'm a huge Harry Potter fan. Can you imagine my excitement when I saw the Perfectly Potter cut file arrive in the Paper Issues shop?!?!  I'll take every chance I can get to weave some HP into my daily life.

This saying makes me think of my younger son and all the mischief he tries to create.  So does Wild Child by Pink Paislee. I mean come on, Danger? Wild and Mischief on the embellishments? Yes please!  The funny thing is, I couldn't find the right photos to go with it. Until the other night. This wild child of my own was insistent that something was under the couch. I kept telling him nope, nothing is there.  He pushed, pulled and squirmed his way behind it, until he found what he was looking for. He sure proved me wrong!

I had to decide on how many photos and their size before I could decide how to resize the cut file. Placing the photos in the center of the cut file seemed to be the way to go. I stayed with white behind the words so they would be readable, and stand out behind the green. I filled in the stars because, well, it makes them more wild! I also played off of the stars, using more of them scattered about.

I love how this part of the Perfectly Potter cut file works as a title, the story and design of my page. This just shows you how awesome and versatile our cut files can be!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! You too can join the Free File Free-for-All challenge this month. Grab a FREE cut file, create something and add it to the February Challenge album in our Facebook Group.  While you are in the Paper Issues shop, take a look at some of the new releases, including PinkFresh and Pink Paislee. Your purchases are always 20% off when you use DEVRA at checkout! See you next time!

Stay Rad - Cat Martin

Hey everyone, it's Cat here, and I'm so excited to get to come back and design for the amazing Paper Issues store!  This is my favorite place to shop, and I just love all of the ladies and scrappers that work behind the front lines, on the DT and everyone who makes this community so much fun!

For my first blog post I am participating in one of my favorite challenges, Scraplift Sunday!  I always love this challenge because I am immediately given a visual jumping off point so it's even easier to generate ideas.  For this round I am scraplifting the amazing Amanda-Jayne Baldwin.  I always adore her layouts and this one is no different!

So here is her amazing layout!

And here is my take on her layout :)

I flipped the embellishment clusters and changed her strips of paper to some bakers twine!  I used lots of PinkFresh Studio Escape the Ordinary and Boy Fort as well as some added Crate Paper Cool Kid.  I also used a free cut file from the shop that you can find here

Thanks so much for stopping by and have an awesome day!

Love is in the Air

Hey Paper Issues Friends and Fans!

This is Olivia bringing you my very first blog post! I am so excited (and a bit nervous)
to be sharing my work with you. I've admired the PI Design Team for a very long time and can't believe I get to rub shoulders with these talented ladies!

February is all about love and what better way to show it than with hearts.

Image may contain: text

I took the heart theme and ran with it. I knew I wanted a big heart with lots of little hearts all around the page. So I pulled out Crate Paper's latest Valentine's Day release called Main Squeeze, a few heart dies and punches, any other heart shaped embellies I could find, and got to work.

I began with a white cardstock base and lightly traced a heart. If you have a die-cutting machine I would definitely recommend using it to either cut or trace a heart; it took me several tries to get a semi-symmetrical shape. Once I was satisfied with the heart, I began placing my photos and large die-cut hearts inside. Then continue to fill it with all the hearts! Big, small, chipboard, glitter, sticker, punched, tasseled (is that a word?), puffy, etc. If you got it, you use it 😄

When I was happy with the hearts I wrote my journaling on the traced outline. *Tip: To make this step easier I would write my journaling first, then place and adhere the hearts. I ended up bumping a lot of them or having eraser flakes stick to the glue as I erased the pencil marks.

The title is a combination of Main Squeeze chipboard and Thickers, and a 'LOVE' banner from an old CP collection (still one of my all time favs). I trimmed about 1/8th of an inch off each side of the cardstock and adhered it to a deep hot pink paper with some messy sewing. For the finishing touches I added a couple embellishment clusters toward the bottom of the layout and scattered pearls throughout the heart.

I had so much fun with this theme and I hope you're inspired to play along! There are more Love layouts in the PIFF FB group. You have until March 4th to add your project and have a chance to win a PI gift certificate! Can't wait to see what you make!

Polka Dot Party

Hey Friends, I am up on the Paper Issues blog with my first layout as a design team member. How exciting!

For this layout I played along with the  Polka Dot Party challenge. As soon as I saw this challenge I knew that I had the perfect line to use for my design. I used Doodlebug Dragon Tales , isn’t it the cutest? I just adore the colors in this line and the super cute embellishments. It’s the perfect line to document my little birthdays or just a random day at the house.

Make sure you play along with the Facebook group. Can’t wait to see what you create.

Love Love Love

Hello everyone! I'm Sheryl and I super excited to be part of the Paper Issues design team, I'm thankful for this opportunity :) :)  I want to share with you a layout I created for Take 5 challenge, I picked the following items: red, heart, stitching, the word love and pattern paper. I'm using the lovely collection 'Main Squeeze' by Crate Paper- there so many fun products to create layouts and cards for Valentine's day.

First, I used plain white cardstock and stitched on it. Then I used the cute washi tapes strips to add colorful pattern. I matt my photo with lots of pattern papers from the 6x6 paper pad. For my title- I used the chipboard 'love love' from the chipboard sticker.

I added few more of the banner chipboard sticker and some the embellishments. The heart with the glitter is so cute and the llama sticker as well!

On top of my photo I added the heart with tassel to add a fun element to my layout.
The 'Main Squeeze' collection is available at Paper Issues, you can get the collection and create beautiful pieces- especially for Valentine's day :) You can use the code SHERYL to save 20% !

Here the Take 5 list:

Use Your Stuff - Scraplift Sunday!

Hello, my friends! I am (the other) Rachel here on the Paper Issues Design Team and I am so thrilled to be sharing my first project with you as a team member! Today we are scraplifting a gorgeous layout by Sindi. I love the simplicity and sparkle her layout has and I was super inspired by those “bursts” coming off of the photo, so I decided to take my own unique spin on it.

I am a huge advocate of using up your stash and not hoarding it away (even though sometimes it seems cringe-worthy when we cut into that beloved Maggie Holmes floral - just do it and use it and stick it down!), so that is exactly what I did for this layout.

To start, I used a good ol’ pencil and ruler to draw those “bursts” and then filled them with some delicious and colourful Amy Tangerine stickers and embellishments - sorting them by colour, of course, because that’s just way too much fun! I added corresponding watercolour splatters, minimal journaling, a few paint splatters, and then it was done, just like that! If you know my style at all, you know I love to layer ripped paper behind my photo. This time I added tissue paper!

There really wasn't much thinking about it - you just stick and plonk! I feel so good about using up some of my favourite Amy Tangerine stickers (from "Better Together" + "Finders Keepers") and being able to show them off on this layout - you can find them HERE in the shop. Give it a try and share it with us on the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} page because I would love to see! You'll even have a chance to win a gift card to the Paper Issues shop - how cool is that?! Click HERE to access the album where all the entries are to be submitted. Good luck!!!

If you would like to see the process video, I have a YouTube channel where you can watch step by step as to how I put this together

Big Title Challenge: Pizza

I saw the So Punny collection by Doodlebug Designs and knew it had to be mine. Now we don't do valentines day and it is a valentines heavy collection. But the sushi, pizza and tea elements of this collection really pulled me in. I have two pizza fanatics in this house so I will buy anything pizza because I'm that mom.

I played with the Big Title challenge with this page. Since I've been in a little creative slump I kept it super simple and clean to get back in the saddle so to speak. I love all the fun ephemera in this collection and had so much fun making it not about valentines.

This is such a fun collection and even if your not big into valentines it should still be on your must have list. And remember if you need to shop use my code and get 20% off your total order.

Here's to new adventures

Hi Friends! Today I would like to share my first official Paper Issues challenge with you all! ( Bucket list no.3-tick) This challenge is called 'This or That', and I picked a lot of this and a little bit of that! I used the very pretty 'Turn the Page' collection from Pink Paislee and added my own take to Paige Evans' paper plane page, and created my own giant paper plane for my photo to rest in. I also used loads of the ephemera and stickers from the 6x12 chipboard sticker sheet. So here are my this and that combinations, hand journaling and not typed, thread and not ribbon and then stickers and not washi. I also created my own background by applying Gesso to the 12x12 white card stock and after it dried I had some fun with Gelato's! I love me some Gelato's! I used the 'snow cone' and 'metallic mint'. If you look closely you can see that I stitched along the edges of the clouds to give them a slight pop. Hope this layout inspires you to take inspiration from a collection and make it your own!! See you soon, Leslie.
And then for a total swanky bonus, why don't you add my coupon code 'Leslie' when you check out at the Paper Issues store for a 20 % discount on your entire purchase!
